Jet Aerator
Jet Aerator
Jet aerator is a kind of aeration equipment which integrates the functions of sucking and mixing the gas. It sucks and compresses the gas through the liquid jet, so as to bring the air into the wastewater for the purpose of adding oxygen to the wastewater. Because the jet aerator has the functions of aeration and pushing flows, its power efficiency is higher than that of the rotating brush aerator, its maintenance is simpler than that of the micro-pore aerator. Thus, it is widely used in the oxidation ditch process with the internal circulation.
Ⅰ.Structure and Components of the Jet Aerator
The internal structure of a typical jet aerator is shown below. In the aeration process, the pressurized working fluid exits from the nozzle and forms the high-speed jet, and the negative pressure is formed in the suction chamber, then the air is sucked into it and forms the air-liquid mixing flow, later it will go to the aeration tank by the mixing tube and the diffusion tube. Because of the existence of the high-speed jet, jet aeration flow consists of two parts: jet and gas-liquid two-phase flow.
The components of the jet aerator include: Nozzle, suction chamber, inlet pipe, the inlet section and expansion section of the inlet pipe. As shown in the figure.
Ⅱ.Aeration Principle
From the macroscopic aspect, its injector adopts the Venturi injector. As the diameter of the injector nozzle decreases, the liquid passes through the nozzle and sprays into the liquid-air mixing chamber at a high speed. A vacuum is created when the high-speed liquid enters into the liquid-air mixing chamber. Then a large amount of air is sucked in the water-air mixing chamber by the gas-guide tube. Under the action of spraying pressure, air is divided into a large number of fine bubbles and mixed with water. Then, the gas-liquid mixture is discharged through the diffusion tube, its speed is slowed down, and the pressure is enhanced. Later, strong jet flow is formed to stir the wastewater and add oxygen to the wastewater. The bubbles are cut, injected and stirred for many times and finally become tiny bubbles. So the surface areas of the bubbles are very large, which makes oxygen in the air dissolve into water more quickly. Because of the small diameter of the bubbles, its rising speed is very slow. Therefore, the time of oxygen dissolving into water is increased and the wastewater and oxygen can be fully mixed and contacted.
Ⅲ.Operation Characteristics
1)The oxygen transfer efficiency can reach 30-35%, which can reduce the power consumption of aeration.
2)Unique structure design makes it hard to jam, which also makes it have a stable and reliable operation.
3) The circulation of a large amount of sludge and wastewater in the aeration tank improves the treatment ability of the system, makes the operation more stable, and also improves the sedimentation performance of the sludge.
4) It not only has ability to add oxygen into the wastewater, but also has a good stirring performance.
